Snoozing a reminder call over WhatsApp

When a reminder catches you mid-task, snooze it in chat and ReminderIt calls again in about ten minutes. Here is when to snooze versus reschedule.

Reminders have a habit of arriving at the one moment you cannot act on them. Rather than dismiss and forget, you can snooze from WhatsApp and ReminderIt will simply call you again a little later.

This post explains the roughly ten-minute snooze, how to trigger it, and how to tell snoozing apart from rescheduling.

What snooze does

Snoozing tells ReminderIt "not now, but soon". It calls you again in about ten minutes, giving you a short breather without letting the reminder slip away entirely.

It is the right move when you will be free imminently, just not this exact minute.

How to snooze

In the WhatsApp chat, snooze is a natural action, often surfaced as a quick reply, so you can just choose Snooze or say you want to be reminded again shortly. You do not need a special command word.

As with everything on this channel it is text; you type or tap your choice rather than speaking it.

Snooze versus reschedule

Snooze is for a short delay measured in minutes, when you will handle it very soon. Reschedule is for moving a reminder to a genuinely different time, later today, tomorrow, or another day entirely.

If you find yourself snoozing the same reminder over and over, that is a sign the time is wrong; reschedule it to when you will actually be free.

A quick example

ReminderIt: Reminder: leave for your appointment.

You: Snooze, I'm just finishing a call

ReminderIt: Sure, I'll ring you again in about 10 minutes.

You: Perfect

A note on your allowance

Choosing snooze in the chat is part of the free messaging channel. The follow-up call it triggers is still a reminder call, so bear your plan in mind if you snooze repeatedly.

For a one-off nudge that is rarely an issue; for something you snooze daily, rescheduling to a better time is both tidier and kinder to your quota.
