Editing a reminder's time or wording over WhatsApp

Plans move. Message the ReminderIt WhatsApp number, say what to change, and it edits the time or wording of your reminder and reads the new version back.

A reminder you set last week rarely survives contact with a real calendar. The meeting shifts, the medication moves to a different hour, or you decide the message should say something clearer. ReminderIt lets you fix all of that from the same WhatsApp chat you used to create it.

There is no form to reopen. You tell the assistant what to change, it works out which reminder you mean, and it confirms the edit before it sticks.

Two kinds of edit

There are really two things you might want to change on an existing reminder: when it calls you, and what it says. ReminderIt handles both over chat. You can nudge a 6:30am wake-up to 7am, or rewrite "take tablets" into "take the blue heart tablet with food".

You do not need to delete anything and start again. Editing keeps the same reminder in place, so any routine or recurrence you set stays intact unless you specifically ask to change that too.

Pointing at the right reminder

If you have several reminders, it helps to say which one. A quick "what reminders do I have?" lists them, and then you can refer to one by its wording or time, such as "move the pharmacy one to 10am".

When there is only one obvious match, the assistant will just act on it. When two could fit, it asks a short question rather than guessing, so you never edit the wrong call by accident.

It confirms before it commits

Every edit comes back as a confirmation in the same chat, with the new time and the time zone spelled out. That last part matters: a reminder is only useful if it rings at the right local moment, so ReminderIt always states the zone it used.

If the confirmation is not quite right, you just reply with the correction. The conversation stays open for about fifteen minutes, so a small back-and-forth is easy.

A real exchange

You: Change my 8am tablet reminder to 8:30am

ReminderIt: Done. Your daily reminder now calls at 8:30am (Europe/London): "Take your tablets." Anything else?

You: Also make it say take tablets with breakfast

ReminderIt: Updated the wording to "Take your tablets with breakfast." Still daily at 8:30am.

When to edit versus reschedule or cancel

Editing is for lasting changes, the new normal time or a clearer message. If you only want to skip today and keep the routine, a snooze or a one-off reschedule is the better tool. If you no longer need the reminder at all, ask to cancel it.

You can set up and fine-tune all of this by messaging ReminderIt on WhatsApp, and it is worth doing the moment a plan changes rather than trusting yourself to remember later.
