Life Certificate for Pensioners 2026: Last Date, and How to Submit It From Home
The 2026 life certificate is due by 30 November 2026; pensioners aged 80+ can submit from 1 October, others from 1 November. What happens if it is missed, how to do it from home with Jeevan Pramaan, and the EPS'95 exception.

The last date to submit the annual life certificate for 2026 is 30 November 2026. Central Government pensioners submit it in November, from 1 November, and pensioners aged 80 and above can submit it earlier, from 1 October 2026. If it is not submitted by the end of November, the pension for December onwards is not paid until it is.
That is the standing rule set out in UIDAI's official FAQ on Digital Life Certificates. It applies every year, so the same dates come round again next October and November.
This is general information from official sources. If your pension comes from a state government, a public sector company or another scheme, check the dates with your bank or pension office.
When is the life certificate due in 2026?
UIDAI's FAQ puts it this way: "Every Central Government pensioner has to submit an Annual Life Certificate in the month of November to the authorized Pension Disbursing Agencies like the Bank for further continuation of pension." For older pensioners there is an extra month: the government "allowed the pensioners in the age group of 80 years and above to submit Annual Life Certificate from 1st October, instead of 1st November onwards, every year."
| Pensioner | Window in 2026 | Valid until |
|---|---|---|
| Aged 80 and above | 1 October to 30 November 2026 | 30 November 2027 |
| Everyone else | 1 November to 30 November 2026 | 30 November 2027 |
In UIDAI's words, the certificate "would be valid till 30th November of the subsequent year."
EPS'95 pensioners (EPFO) follow a different rule. Since 2020, EPFO has said that EPS pensioners "can now submit DLC at any time during the year", and that "the life certificate will remain valid for one year from date of submission." So if your pension is from EPFO, the date that matters is one year after your last submission, not 30 November.
What happens if the life certificate is not submitted by 30 November?
The UIDAI FAQ is direct: "Payment of pension for the month of December and onwards will not be done to the pensioner."
The pension is not lost. Once the certificate is updated, "pension will be paid along with arrears immediately on the next pension payment." The exception is a long gap: if no life certificate is submitted "for a period of three years and above", the pension restarts only after sanction through the CPAO (Central Pension Accounting Office), which takes longer.
For most families the real cost of missing the date is a month or more without the pension arriving, which matters if it pays for rent, medicines or household bills.
How can a pensioner submit the life certificate from home?
Through Jeevan Pramaan, the Aadhaar-based Digital Life Certificate (DLC). The Jeevan Pramaan portal explains that the DLC "does not have to be submitted physically" to the bank or post office, because it is available to them digitally. Each one has a unique Pramaan ID.
The most convenient route is face authentication on an Android phone. The government has promoted it since 2021; during the 2024 campaign, over 1.62 crore DLCs were generated, including 50 lakh through face authentication, according to PIB. UIDAI lists what you need:
- an Android phone on version 9 or above, with a camera of 13 MP or more and at least 500 MB free space
- an internet connection
- the pensioner's Aadhaar number registered with the bank or post office that pays the pension
- the PPO number, pension account number, and the names of the sanctioning and disbursing authorities
The steps, in short: install UIDAI's Aadhaar Face RD app and the Jeevan Pramaan app from the Play Store, complete a one-time "operator" verification with an OTP, then fill in the pensioner's details and scan their face. A Pramaan ID appears on screen when it is done.
Two details help families. UIDAI says the operator can be "pensioner/family pensioner/any other person on behalf of pensioner", so a son, daughter or neighbour can use their own phone. And one operator "can generate many DLCs of different Pensioners", so both parents can be done on the same phone.
What if face authentication doesn't work?
There are several other routes, all listed in the UIDAI FAQ:
- Doorstep by India Post Payments Bank. A postman or Gramin Dak Sevak comes to the home, booked through the Postinfo app; the FAQ lists a nominal fee of ₹70.
- Doorstep banking by public sector banks, through the Doorstep Banking app or website, or toll-free on 18001213721 or 18001037188; the FAQ lists a fee of ₹75.
- A Common Service Centre (CSC). To find the nearest one, send an SMS starting with "JPL" and your PIN code (for example "JPL 110003") to 7738299899.
- The bank branch, post office or a designated government office, with fingerprint or iris authentication, or the traditional paper certificate.
Jeevan Pramaan is an addition to the old way, not a replacement. Pensioners who are re-employed or have remarried cannot use the digital certificate and must submit it the conventional way. Common reasons a face scan fails, according to UIDAI, include poor lighting, a locked Aadhaar or locked biometrics, side-on poses, and a slow connection. The Jeevan Pramaan helpline is 1800 111 555.
How do I check the life certificate was accepted?
Do not treat the Pramaan ID as the end of the job. UIDAI says the DLC reaches the bank "after few days", and to know whether it was accepted you "need to download the DLC" from the Jeevan Pramaan portal using the Pramaan ID. If it was rejected, usually because a detail was entered wrongly, generate a new one with the correct details, or go to the bank branch.
This is the main reason not to leave it to the last days of November: a rejection on 29 November leaves no time to fix it.
A reminder plan for October and November
- Early October (80+), or late October (everyone else): check the Aadhaar is linked to the pension account, and find the PPO number.
- The first week of the window: generate the DLC, or book the doorstep visit.
- About a week later: download the certificate from the portal and check its status.
- Around 20 November: if anything is still pending or rejected, go to the bank branch.
- Next September: a reminder that the window is about to open again.
For EPS'95 pensioners, set one call about a month before the anniversary of the last submission.
How ReminderIt can help
ReminderIt places a real phone call at the exact time you choose and reads your reminder in a natural voice, for example "Life certificate this week. Keep the PPO number and Aadhaar ready." If the call is missed, you get a WhatsApp message.
You can set reminders by sending a WhatsApp message (text, voice note or a photo of the pension letter), such as "Call me on 3 November at 10am about Papa's life certificate", or on the website. There is no app to install. You can also set the call for your parent's own phone, so they hear it directly; they confirm first.
There is a 7-day free trial with 7 free reminder calls (3 if your number is in a country where calls cost more). After that it is one plan: ₹299 a month in India, or pay once for a month with no autopay, with annual and 2-year options ($7 a month outside India).
The short answer
Submit the 2026 life certificate by 30 November 2026. Pensioners aged 80 and above can do it from 1 October, everyone else from 1 November, and it stays valid until 30 November 2027. If it is missed, the December pension stops until the certificate is in, then arrives with arrears. It can be done from home with Jeevan Pramaan face authentication, on a family member's phone if needed. EPS'95 pensioners can submit at any time, and theirs is valid for one year.
