How to skip, pause, or modify a reminder using Claude
Tell Claude to skip tomorrow's reminder, pause a schedule for two weeks, or move a call to a different time — no dashboard needed.
Once your reminders are set up, managing them through Claude is more convenient than opening the dashboard — especially for quick adjustments. Here's how to skip, pause, and modify reminders conversationally.
Skipping the next occurrence
Say "Skip my medication reminder tomorrow morning" and Claude will use the skip_next_occurrence tool to skip just that call, leaving the rest of the recurring schedule intact. This is different from deleting the reminder — the day after tomorrow's call goes through as normal.
Modifying time or recurrence
Say "Move my wake-up call from 7am to 6:45am starting from Monday" and Claude uses the update_reminder tool to change the schedule. For timezone changes: "Switch my evening reminder to Chicago time from next month" — Claude updates the IANA timezone field while keeping the rest of the reminder unchanged.
Pausing for a period
ReminderIt doesn't have a built-in pause — but you can ask Claude to delete a reminder and recreate it later, or use skip_next_occurrence repeatedly if the pause is short. For a holiday: 'Skip my gym reminder every day from Monday to Friday next week' — Claude will issue five skip commands in sequence.
