Using ReminderIt's MCP server with ChatGPT

Connect ReminderIt's MCP server and ChatGPT gains 25 real tools for reminders, voices and your account. Here is the tour, grouped, with example asks.

MCP, the Model Context Protocol, is the open standard that lets ChatGPT reach into ReminderIt and actually do things rather than just talk about them. Connect the hosted server and ChatGPT gains a toolbox of 25 real actions in your account. This is a tour of what those tools are, grouped by what they touch, so you know what you can ask for.

What MCP actually gives ChatGPT

Without a connector, ChatGPT can describe how to set a reminder but cannot set one. MCP changes that by exposing ReminderIt's actions as tools ChatGPT can call. You speak in plain language, ChatGPT picks the matching tool, and a real phone reminder is created or changed.

You never call tools by name yourself. Knowing they exist just helps you understand the breadth of what a simple request can trigger.

Reminder tools

The largest group manages the reminders themselves: list_reminders, get_reminder, list_upcoming, create_reminder, update_reminder, pause_reminder, resume_reminder, set_skip_dates, skip_next_occurrence, test_call and delete_reminder.

Example asks: "What's coming up this week?" runs list_upcoming; "Set a daily 7am wake-up call, Europe/London" runs create_reminder; "Skip tomorrow's call" runs skip_next_occurrence; and "Ring me now to test it" runs test_call.

Voice tools

A second group shapes how calls sound: list_voices, preview_voice, get_voice_settings, set_voice_settings, set_reminder_voice, clear_reminder_voice and set_reminder_channels, which controls WhatsApp and email fallback.

Example asks: "What voices are available, and play me one" runs list_voices then preview_voice; "Use the calmer voice for my bedtime reminder" runs set_reminder_voice; and "Send a WhatsApp if I miss the call" configures fallback with set_reminder_channels.

Account and people tools

The last group covers your account and the people you set reminders for: whoami, get_usage, get_recent_calls, list_recipients, add_recipient, which triggers a consent call, resend_recipient_verification and remove_recipient.

Example asks: "How many calls have I used?" runs get_usage; "Which plan am I on?" runs whoami; "Add my dad as a recipient" runs add_recipient and starts his consent call; and "Did my last few calls connect?" runs get_recent_calls.

Putting the tools together

Real requests often chain several tools. "Check I've got calls left, then set a weekday 8am medication reminder and ring me to test it" flows through get_usage, create_reminder and test_call in one conversation, without you naming any of them.

That is the point of MCP: you describe the outcome and ChatGPT assembles the tools. You can connect the server at reminderit.com and revoke access any time at reminderit.com/api-keys.
