Fixing "Error refreshing actions" when adding ReminderIt

The "Error refreshing actions" message means ChatGPT could not load ReminderIt's tools or authorisation. Here is why it happens and how to fix it, in order.

If ChatGPT shows "Error refreshing actions" while you are adding ReminderIt, do not worry: it almost always means one specific thing, and it is quick to fix. The connector tried to load its tools and authorisation and could not complete the handshake. Work through the checks below in order and it will come up.

What the error actually means

"Error refreshing actions" is ChatGPT telling you the connector failed to load its tools or its authorisation. In other words, discovery did not finish: ChatGPT could not fetch ReminderIt's 25 tools, or the sign-in that authorises them was not completed.

It is a loading problem, not a sign that anything is broken with your account. That is why re-running the connection almost always clears it.

Check the URL first

The most common cause is a small slip in the connector URL. It must be exactly https://mcp.reminderit.com, with no trailing path, no typo, and https rather than http. Even a stray character stops discovery cold.

Re-open the connector settings, confirm the URL character for character, and correct it if needed before trying anything else.

Complete the OAuth sign-in

If the URL is right, the next suspect is an unfinished sign-in. The tools only load after you complete the OAuth consent screen, so if that window was closed early or the approval was skipped, actions cannot refresh.

Trigger the connection again and follow the sign-in all the way through: log in to ReminderIt and approve access. Completing it is what lets discovery pull the tools in.

Re-authorise, or remove and re-add

Still stuck? Re-authorise or reconnect the connector so it retries the handshake. If that does not take, remove the connector entirely and add it again from scratch. A fresh add makes ChatGPT re-run discovery cleanly, which clears most lingering cases.

Removing and re-adding is not drastic here; the connection is just a URL plus an OAuth sign-in, so rebuilding it takes a minute and often succeeds where a stale, half-loaded connector would not.

Confirm it is fixed

Once actions refresh, the 25 tools load and ChatGPT can work in your account. Prove it with a real request: ask "List my reminders." A proper answer from your account means tools and authorisation both loaded correctly.

From there you are ready to set your first reminder. If the error ever returns later, the same order applies: check the URL, complete the sign-in, then re-add. You can manage the connection's access at reminderit.com/api-keys.
