Social Security Payment Schedule for October, November and December 2026
November 2026 Social Security payments go out on 3, 10, 18 and 25 November; the second-Wednesday group is paid Tuesday the 10th because of Veterans Day, and SSI for November arrives on 30 October. Full October to December 2026 dates.

In November 2026, Social Security payments go out on Tuesday 3 November, Tuesday 10 November, Wednesday 18 November and Wednesday 25 November. The second-Wednesday payment comes a day early on the 10th because 11 November is Veterans Day, and there is no SSI payment dated in November at all: November's SSI arrives early, on Friday 30 October.
Which of those dates is yours depends on your birthday, and on whether you started getting benefits before May 1997 or also get SSI. The full schedule for the rest of 2026 is below.
This is general information taken from the Social Security Administration's published 2026 payment calendar. For anything about your own payment, check your my Social Security account or call SSA.
How does Social Security decide my payment date?
SSA's 2026 payment schedule sets out the rule:
| Your birth date | Benefits paid on |
|---|---|
| 1st to 10th of the month | Second Wednesday |
| 11th to 20th | Third Wednesday |
| 21st to 31st | Fourth Wednesday |
Two groups are paid differently. In SSA's words: "If you received Social Security before May 1997 or if receiving both Social Security & SSI, Social Security is paid on the 3rd and SSI on the 1st."
If you get benefits on a spouse's work record, SSA's booklet for retirement and survivors beneficiaries explains that the date follows the worker's birth date, not yours: "If you receive benefits based on your spouse's work, we base your benefit payment date on your spouse's birth date."
As the calendar shows, when a payment date falls on a weekend or a federal holiday, the money is paid on the business day before. That is why several dates below are not on the 1st, the 3rd or a Wednesday.
What are the Social Security payment dates for October 2026?
| Who | Paid on |
|---|---|
| SSI (October payment) | Thursday 1 October |
| Paid on the 3rd (pre-May 1997, or Social Security plus SSI) | Friday 2 October |
| Birth date 1st to 10th | Wednesday 14 October |
| Birth date 11th to 20th | Wednesday 21 October |
| Birth date 21st to 31st | Wednesday 28 October |
| SSI (November payment, paid early) | Friday 30 October |
The 3 October payment moves to Friday the 2nd because the 3rd is a Saturday. And because 1 November is a Sunday, SSI recipients get two payments dated in October: one on the 1st for October, and one on the 30th for November.
What are the Social Security payment dates for November 2026?
| Who | Paid on |
|---|---|
| SSI | None in November (paid on 30 October) |
| Paid on the 3rd | Tuesday 3 November |
| Birth date 1st to 10th | Tuesday 10 November (11 November is Veterans Day) |
| Birth date 11th to 20th | Wednesday 18 November |
| Birth date 21st to 31st | Wednesday 25 November |
The 10 November date is the one most likely to surprise people: it is the only Tuesday in SSA's 2026 calendar for a Wednesday group. The 25 November payment arrives on the day before Thanksgiving.
What are the Social Security payment dates for December 2026?
| Who | Paid on |
|---|---|
| SSI (December payment) | Tuesday 1 December |
| Paid on the 3rd | Thursday 3 December |
| Birth date 1st to 10th | Wednesday 9 December |
| Birth date 11th to 20th | Wednesday 16 December |
| Birth date 21st to 31st | Wednesday 23 December |
| SSI (January payment) and the 3rd-of-month group's January payment | Thursday 31 December |
1 January 2027 is New Year's Day and 3 January is a Sunday, so both SSI and the "paid on the 3rd" Social Security payment for January land on Thursday 31 December. SSA's 2027 calendar confirms it: January 2027 shows only the three Wednesday dates, 13, 20 and 27 January.
Why does it look like I got two payments in one month?
Because the payment for the next month was moved earlier, not because you were paid extra. In 2026 this happens to SSI in October (1st and 30th) and December (1st and 31st). The catch is the month after: there is no SSI deposit in November, and none in January 2027.
If you budget month by month, the early payment needs to cover the whole of the following month. Spending it in October because it arrived in October is how people end up short in late November.
A related point that confuses new retirees: Social Security is paid a month behind. SSA's booklet says "The benefits are paid in the month that follows the month for which they are due. For example, you would receive your July benefit in August." So the payment you get in November is your October benefit.
Will my payment go up in January 2027?
Possibly. SSA explains that since 1982, cost-of-living adjustments (COLAs) "have been effective with benefits payable for December (received by beneficiaries in January)." For 2026 the increase was 2.8 percent. The 2027 COLA had not been announced when this was written. If there is one, it would first show in Social Security payments received in January 2027, and, going by last year's pattern, in SSI from the payment dated 31 December 2026, which is January's SSI paid early.
What if my payment doesn't arrive?
SSA's advice for electronic payments is to "contact your bank or financial institution first. They may experience a delay when your payment is posted." If it is still missing, call SSA on 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778) or contact your local office. For a paper check, the payment calendar says to "allow three additional mailing days before contacting Social Security."
SSA also warns that no government agency will ask for personal information or advance fees by wire transfer or gift cards. Anyone calling about a "problem with your payment" who wants those is not SSA.
A simple reminder plan for the next three months
- On your payment day, mid-morning: check the deposit has landed. Doing it the same day means a problem is spotted in time to call the bank.
- The day after: pay the bills that depend on it, such as rent, utilities and prescriptions.
- 30 October and 31 December (SSI): a note that this money is for next month.
- Around 20 January 2027: look at the new amount once the January payment arrives.
If you help a parent with their money, the same plan works for their dates, which may differ from yours.
How ReminderIt can help
ReminderIt places a real phone call at the exact time you choose and reads your reminder in a natural voice, for example "Social Security goes in today. Check the account, then pay the electric bill." If the call is missed, you get a WhatsApp message.
You can set reminders by sending a WhatsApp message (text, voice note or a photo of the payment letter), such as "Call me on 10 November at 10am to check the Social Security deposit", or on the website. There is no app to install. You can also set the call for a parent's own phone, so they hear it directly; they confirm first. The words in the call are the ones you wrote.
There is a 7-day free trial with 7 free reminder calls (3 if your number is in a country where calls cost more). After that it is one plan, $7 a month, with annual and 2-year options.
The short answer
November 2026 Social Security dates are 3, 10, 18 and 25 November, with the second-Wednesday group paid on Tuesday the 10th because of Veterans Day. SSI for November is paid on 30 October, so there is no SSI in November. In December, payments go out on 1, 3, 9, 16 and 23 December, and SSI plus the 3rd-of-month group's January payment arrive on 31 December.
