Set a Reminder by Phone Call: How ReminderIt's Inbound Calling Works

ReminderIt lets you create a reminder by calling in and speaking it aloud. Useful when you can't type, don't have your phone handy, or just prefer to talk.

Most reminder services require you to open an app or website, type your reminder, and set the time. ReminderIt also supports the opposite flow: you call our number, speak your reminder, and we schedule it for you. This inbound call feature is useful when you're driving, cooking, or in any situation where typing isn't practical — and it's the fastest way to capture a reminder before the thought disappears.

How inbound reminder creation works

Call the ReminderIt inbound number (available in your account settings once you've signed up). Our system answers and prompts you to speak your reminder. Say something like: 'Remind me to call the dentist at 2pm tomorrow' or 'Set a reminder for Monday at 8am to send the quarterly report.' Our voice processing system captures the reminder content and time, confirms it back to you, and schedules the call.

The scheduled reminder then calls your registered phone number at the time you specified — completing the loop that started with your inbound call. You created the reminder by speaking; you receive it as a phone call.

When inbound calling is most useful

In the car: hands-free calls are legal and safe while driving; opening an app is not. A quick 'remind me to pick up the dry cleaning on the way home, 5:30pm' spoken while driving creates the reminder without taking your hands off the wheel or your eyes off the road.

On the move: when you think of something you need to remember and reaching for your phone to type it would be inconvenient or unsafe. Speaking it into a call is faster than typing in most circumstances — and faster than the thought can disappear. For users who prefer voice interaction: some people find speaking more natural and faster than typing, especially for longer reminder messages.

Inbound vs WhatsApp for quick reminder creation

ReminderIt also supports WhatsApp inbound: message our WhatsApp number to create reminders conversationally. 'Remind me to take my medication at 8pm' sent to our WhatsApp creates the reminder without opening the app. WhatsApp inbound is better when you're stationary and can type; phone inbound is better when you're moving or hands-free.

Both channels are available on the same account — use whichever is most convenient at the moment. Reminders created through either channel appear in your dashboard alongside reminders created through the web interface.
