Reminders to Reorder Contact Lenses Before You Run Out
Running out of contact lenses mid-month is entirely avoidable. A reminder when you open your last box gives you time to reorder before the gap.

Running out of contact lenses is a minor inconvenience that happens to most lens wearers at some point. It's avoidable with a simple system: a reminder set when you open your last box, allowing enough time for an order to arrive before you need the next one. Unlike many habit reminders that require long-term behaviour change, this one requires a single decision and a 2-minute setup.
How to Set Up a Contact Lens Reorder Reminder
When you open your last box of monthly lenses (or your last pack of dailies), immediately set a reminder for 10-14 days later: 'Reorder contact lenses — check prescription is current.' This gives you two weeks for delivery, which is comfortably within the timeline of every major online lens retailer.
If you wear monthly lenses, the reminder fires once per month when you open the new box. If you wear dailies, set a reminder when you open the last 20-pack or similar quantity. The trigger is always 'opening last box' — a sensory prompt that doesn't require any calendar tracking.
Prescription Expiry Reminders
Contact lens prescriptions expire annually in most countries, which means online retailers won't dispatch new lenses without a valid prescription on file. A reminder one month before your prescription expires — 'book contact lens check-up, prescription due to expire' — prevents the frustration of trying to reorder and discovering you can't.
Combined with the lens reorder reminder, a prescription renewal reminder means you always have lenses and always have a current prescription. Two reminders, zero lens-related stress.
Pairing With Other Eye Health Reminders
Contact lens wearers should also have a reminder for the maximum wear time of their lenses (daily lenses disposed of daily, monthly lenses replaced monthly — sleeping in lenses significantly increases infection risk), and a reminder to replace their lens case every 1-3 months.
Annual eye tests are particularly important for contact lens wearers, as the fit of lenses changes with prescription changes or corneal changes. A yearly eye test reminder ensures your lenses are the right prescription and fit — both for visual clarity and eye health.
